West Oahu starter Keisaku Itokazu improved to 5-1 on the
season after allowing one run on four hits as the CaneFires defeated the
visiting Honolulu Sharks, 6-1, this afternoon at
Michael Cooper came on in relief, and earned his first save of the Hawaii Winter Baseball campaign with 2 1/3 strong innings through which he struck out three without allowing a hit or run.
Ian Gac notched two hits and drove in a pair, while teammate
Chad Tracy slammed his seventh home run of the season, a two-run blast in the
fourth inning off Sharks’ losing starter Shingo Matsuzaki (1-2, 4.50 ERA).
Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at noon for the second of a three-game series.
