West Oahu starter Blake Wood threw 65 of his 99 pitches for
strikes as the 6-4, 225-pound Kansas City Royals prospect racked up 12
strikeouts to help the CaneFires stop the Honolulu Sharks, 4-3, this afternoon
at
Wood (2-1, 3.55 ERA) surrendered two runs on six hits, but in his five innings on the hill, half of the 24 batters he faced were retired via strikeout.
