Sharks Slug Honu in Opener

Each Honolulu position player
notched at least one hit as the Sharks pounded out 15 base knocks en route to a
10-4 victory over North Shore tonight at Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange Park.
The Sharks (8-3-1) scored runs in each of the first six
innings, and received a game-high three hits from first baseman Tony Cruz who
notched two doubles on the evening. Bradley Emaus knocked a two-run home run in
the third frame, and shortstop Ruben Tejada also pitched in two RBIs.
The Honu (4-7-1) received a solo home run from catcher Jason
Castro who paced West Oahu with two RBIs.
Teammates Kenji Sato and Ronald Rivas each notched two base hits in the losing
effort.
Honolulu
reliever Chris Kissock (1-0) earned the victory after tossing four innings
through which he surrendered a run on one hit, and striking out six.
North
Shore starter Sang-Hwa
Lee (0-1) was shelled for six runs on nine hits through 2 2/3 innings.
Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park at 7 p.m. tomorrow
for the second game of a three-game series.
