Mark Hallberg hit a two-run single in the home half of the seventh to tie the game at 6-6, and ensuing batter Chris Hatcher drove in Cyle Hankerd with an infield single to put the CaneFires ahead for good.

The Honu (6-11) brought the game’s first run across in the
fourth inning as Matt McBride plated Ryan Kalish, who reached on a bunt single
to start the inning, on a single to left field. Ensuing batter Yamaico Navarro
doubled to center field, and brought home Jason Castro and McBride to put
Hankerd got the CaneFires on the board in the home half of the fourth with a two-out single to score Tyler Henson who had doubled to lead off the frame.
Hatcher hit his second home run in as many nights, a solo
shot in the fifth inning to pull
However, the Honu answered with a run in the sixth when
Corey Brown plated Navarro on a sacrifice fly to center field.
Dustin Richardson surrendered three runs on three hits, and the Honu reliever fell to 0-1.
The squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at 1 p.m. for the finale of a three-game set.
