West Oahu pounded out 11 hits including two key home runs en
route to a 7-5 victory and completed a three-game sweep of
Logan Schafer paced the CaneFires with three hits and four
RBIs while teammate Chris Hatcher chipped in three hits and scored three runs.
The win gives
Kenji Sato got the Honu (6-12) on the board in the second
inning with an RBI double to deep center field that plated Yamaico Navarro.
But the CaneFires took a 2-1 lead in the home half of the
frame on Schafer’s two-run home run over the fence in right field with two out
that scored Hatcher.
Wally Crancer hit his first home run of the Hawaii Winter
Baseball season, a solo shot in the fifth inning, to give West Oahu a five-run
advantage. After Hatcher singled later in the frame, Schafer doubled him home
to increase the CaneFires lead to 7-1 prior to North Shore’s four-run ninth
inning.
Honu starter Jose Capellan (0-1) took the loss, surrendering
five runs on six hits through three innings.
The two teams have tomorrow off, and return to action on
Tuesday.
