Buster Posey returned from his brief stint at San Francisco’s Instructional League, and promptly posted three hits and drove in four to lead Waikiki past West Oahu, 8-5, this afternoon at Hans L’Orange Park in Waipahu.

The BeachBoys (8-11) jumped on CaneFires starter Cody Scarpetta (0-1) with four runs in the first inning as the Milwaukee Brewers prospect allowed the first six batters he faced to reach base in his Hawaii Winter Baseball debut. Through three innings, Scarpetta surrendered four runs on five hits and struck out four.
Andrew Brackman, a first-round pick in the 2007 draft by the New York Yankees, improved to 2-3 on the season thanks to a solid five innings through which he gave up an earned run on five hits and struck out five. Jeremy Papelbon closed things down in the ninth inning to earn his second save.
