West Oahu broke a 2-2 tie in the tenth inning on Mark
Hallberg’s two-run double to left field as the CaneFires went on to score six
in the inning, and down North Shore, 8-2, this afternoon at Hans L’Orange Park.
Hallberg paced the West Oahu
offense with three RBIs on two hits, while Kyle Peter went 4-5 and improved his
batting average to .393. Teammate Caleb Gindl drove in two runs in the 10th

Logan Schafer, and Chris Hatcher came home on a wild pitch.
Matt McBride narrowed the deficit to 2-1 on a solo home run,
his third long ball of the season, in the home half of the inning. Then in the
eighth frame, Kyle Martin plated Kurt Mertins with a sacrifice fly to right
field off reliever Moises Robles, and knotted the score at 2-2.
McBride and Jordan Parraz led North Shore
(8-14) with two hits apiece in the losing effort.
West Oahu starter Chris
Cody held the Honu scoreless through five innings, allowing two hits and
striking out four in the no-decision. Robles (1-2) notched the win after
tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings and striking out two.
Jose Capellan matched Cody as the North Shore
starter blanked the CaneFires through five frames, and gave up two hits while
striking out three. Brett Hunter (0-1) took the loss after surrendering all six
CaneFires runs in the tenth inning.
The squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at 3 p.m.
