North Shore collected 10 hits, including five doubles, en route to a 7-3 victory over West Oahu this afternoon at Hans L’Orange Park.

Jason Castro and Ronald Rivas each notched two hits and two RBIs in support of the Honu. Teammate Matt McBride chipped in two doubles on the afternoon, and now has eight two-baggers on the season.

North Shore (9-14) got out to a quick lead thanks to a five-run first inning in which the Honu sent 10 batters to the plate, with the first six reaching base before an out was recorded. Castro’s two-run double started the scoring spree, and McBride plated Castro on his first double of the game.

The Honu added an insurance run in the fifth inning as Dustin Realini doubled home Adam Davis, and extended the squad’s lead to 6-2.

Mark Hallberg paced the West Oahu (12-11) offense with three hits, while Tyler Henson chipped in a double and triple in defeat.

North Shore starter Yasutaka Hattori (3-1) earned the victory after surrendering an earned run on five hits through five innings.

CaneFires starting pitcher Cody Scarpetta (0-2) did not fare as well, recording just one out and allowing five runs on four hits before being replaced by Fumikazu Kimura.

The teams return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at 3 p.m. for the finale of a three-game series.
