North Shore Holds Off Honolulu

North Shore picked up three runs in the sixth inning and
held on for the 3-1 victory over Honolulu
this afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium.
The Honu (12-15) snapped a 15-inning scoreless streak that
spanned three games with a three-run sixth inning to take their first lead of
the game. Corey Brown blooped a double to right field to plate Adam Davis, and
Yamaico Navarro followed with a sacrifice fly to deep right to score Ronald
Rivas. Matt McBride capped the scoring spree with a single on a sharp line
drive up the middle that scored Brown.
Honolulu
(14-13) brought a run across in the eighth inning on a Greg Veloz ground out
that allowed Jordan Abruzzo to come in from third. The Sharks were presented
with ample scoring opportunities throughout the game, but stranded 14 runners
on base.
Chris Carter paced North Shore
with two hits on the afternoon including a double.
Bradley Emaus, Michael Taylor and Shintaro Masuda each
notched two base hits in support of Honolulu.
Matt Meyer (2-1) picked up the win for North
Shore after holding Honolulu scoreless through 1 2/3 innings.
Brett Hunter retired the final batter in the ninth for his first save of the
season.
Honolulu
starter Kyle Drabek (0-1) took the loss, surrendering three runs on three hits
through 5 1/3 innings. The Philadelphia Phillies prospect struck out a
game-high five batters and walked one.
Both teams have scheduled days off tomorrow, and return to
action Tuesday.
