Offense was hard to come by this afternoon at Hans L’Orange
Park as Honolulu and West
Oahu played to a 0-0 tie in nine innings.
The game was ended after both coaching staffs mutually agreed
that their pitching staffs, which include hurlers limited to strict pitch
counts, could not handle the extra work if the game were to continue.
West Oahu starter Fumikazu
Kimura was nearly perfect through five frames as the Saitama Seibu Lions hurler
allowed one hit and struck out four through five innings. Reliever Harrison
Bishop tossed the final 2 2/3 innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.
Honolulu
starter Johnny Venters tossed five scoreless innings through which he scattered
three hits and struck out five. Roy Merritt, Austin Chambliss and Chris Kissock
combined to shut out the CaneFires through the remaining four innings on two
hits.
Cyle Hankerd posted a game-high three hits in support of West Oahu (14-14), all of which were singles.
Kala Ka’aihue paced Honolulu
(14-14) with two of the squad’s four hits on the afternoon.
Both squads have a scheduled day off tomorrow, and return to
action on Friday.
