Nyjer Morgan went 2-3 and scored a run for Pittsburgh as the Pirates downed St. Louis, 11-0, Monday at Busch Stadium. Since being called up on Sept. 1, Morgan has hit safely in all three games in which he has appeared, and holds a .444 batting average thanks to four singles in nine at-bats.

The 27-year-old rookie is the sixth 2006 HWB alumnus to reach the major leagues this year. As a member of the Honolulu Sharks, Morgan posted a .294 average and collected 20 stolen bases—a league record.

Morgan battled through injury for most of the season prior to his call-up, but still managed to post a .305 average on 50 hits through 44 games with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians. The HWB All-Star also notched 26 steals with the Indians, and the former hockey player amassed 164 steals in his previous four years of pro ball.
