Honolulu starter Shingo Matsuzaki (1-0, 3.38 ERA) struck out ten, allowed no runs and one hit in five innings to help the Sharks blank the North Shore Honu 2-0 in a Hawaii Winter Baseball game tonight at Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange Park. Ryan Ouellette and Chad Thall each tossed two innings of relief to preserve the shutout for Honolulu (8-6-1), and hold the Honu (10-5) to two hits on the evening.

Nate Samson and Matt Wieters each drove in a run for Honolulu, which accumulated five hits on the game. Wieters posted his fifth double of the HWB campaign, and now has eight RBIs in his first professional action.

Dusty Ryan and Lou Santangelo each posted one of North Shore’s hits. Blair Johnson (1-1, 3.31 ERA) took the loss despite a quality appearance in which he allowed two runs on three hits through six innings.

Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park for the rubber game of the three-game series tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
