Brad Suttle cranked a three-run home run over the left field fence in the second inning to aid the Honolulu Sharks offense which notched eight runs in the first three frames en route to a 8-3 victory over the Waikiki BeachBoys this afternoon at Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange Park. The Sharks (11-9-1) now hold a 2 ½-game lead over the BeachBoys (9-12) in Hawaii Winter Baseball’s East Division.
Left fielder Takumi Kobe went 3-4 with an RBI in support of the
Sharks while teammate Tyler Flowers collected two hits, an RBI and scored
twice. Center fielder Austin Jackson hit a solo home run in the first inning to
give
Jermaine Mitchell paced the BeachBoy batters, going 2-3 with
a two-run double. Michael Wilson went 2-3 with a run, while
George Kontos (3-2, 3.72 ERA) picked up the victory despite allowing three runs on eight hits through 4 1/3 innings. Benjamin Snyder (9.39 ERA) fell to 0-4 on the season after allowing six runs on six hits in a two-inning outing.
Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at noon for the rubber match of the three-game series.
