Wieters, Sharks Slam Honu With 22-Hit Barrage

Matt Wieters had his most productive outing as a pro, going 4-5
with two doubles, a solo home run, and three runs scored to help propel the
Honolulu Sharks past the North Shore Honu, 16-6, this afternoon at Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange
Park. Honolulu (12-10-1) amassed 22 hits including four off the bat of Brandon
Snyder who scored three times, notched a double, triple and three RBIs.
Honolulu scored five runs in
each of the first and second innings, and chased North Shore
starter Logan Ondrusek (1-2, 5.71 ERA) who allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 1
1/3 innings. Sharks center fielder Austin Jackson chipped in three hits and
scored twice while teammate Miguel Abreu went 3-5 with two doubles.
Ryohei Tanaka improved to 3-0 on the season and lowered his
ERA to 1.82 as the Sharks starter surrendered one run on seven hits and struck
out five in five innings on the hill.
North Shore
(16-7) pounded 14 hits in the losing effort, four of which came from Jeramy
Laster who doubled, drove in a run and scored twice. Teammate Stephen Chapman
went 3-5 with a double and two RBIs.
Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at noon
for the second game of the three-game set.
