West Oahu starter Keisaku Itokazu (3-0, 1.69 ERA) dominated
the Waikiki offense, surrendering three hits and striking out six through six
innings to help the CaneFires down the visiting BeachBoys, 3-1, tonight at
Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange Park. Reid Santos held Waikiki
scoreless through the seventh and eighth innings and Ken Miyamoto shut the door
in the ninth to notch his first save, and secure the CaneFires victory.
Chad Tracy buoyed the West Oahu
(8-15-1) offensive attack, notching a double and a two-run home run in the
fourth inning to put his squad up for good. Teammate K.C. Herren chipped in
with a three hit performance, and also drove in a run.
Waikiki (10-14) catcher
Michael McKenry doubled in Lucas Duda for the lone BeachBoy run in the ninth
frame. Justin Sellers also notched a double for what proved to be Waikiki’s only other extra-base hit on the evening.
Jared Lansford (0-3, 7.20 ERA) was saddled with the loss
after allowing all three West Oahu runs on
five hits in four innings.
The CaneFires look to complete the three-game sweep tomorrow
in the series finale at Hans L’Orange Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30
p.m.
