Kenichi Matsuoka shut the visiting North
Shore squad out through six innings on
five hits to help the Waikiki BeachBoys blank the Honu, 4-0, tonight at Waipahu’s Hans L’Orange
Park before 644 in attendance. Jared Lansford (6.26 ERA) earned his first save
of the campaign, holding North
Shore scoreless through
the final three innings to preserve Matsuoka’s first HWB victory.
Waikiki (14-14) won its
fourth consecutive game, and relied on six different players that each notched
one hit. Jeff Kindel, Matt Inouye and Jose Coronado each doubled for the
BeachBoys.
Masahiro Nagata and Jeramy Laster each notched two hits for North Shore
(19-8). Brett Sinkbeil (2-1, 1.13 ERA) took the loss despite only allowing one
run on one hit through four innings.
Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at 6:30
p.m. for the second of a three-game series.
