The West Oahu CaneFires snapped a four-game losing streak
with an 8-5 victory over the visiting North Shore Honu this afternoon at
The CaneFires (9-19-1) got support at the dish from five
players who each notched two hits, including Anthony Hatch, Russell Mitchell
and Ryan Rogowski who chipped in a home run apiece.
Starter Blake Wood (1-1, 3.54 ERA) notched his first victory
of the campaign, striking out seven through four innings in which he allowed
two runs on two hits. Ken Miyamoto shaved his league-leading ERA to 0.39 as the

Michael Griffin turned in a two hit, two RBI performance for the Honu (20-9) while teammate Chris Valaika added a two-run home run. Andrew Cruse (1-2, 5.40 ERA) took the loss after surrendering five runs on six hits in three innings of relief of starter Bud Norris.
Both squads return to Hans L’Orange Park tomorrow at noon for the second game of a three-game series.
