When I received the news that Matt Wieters, the No. 5 overall pick from the 2007 draft, is coming to HWB, I had to do a double-take.
This guy is an absolute beast who is not only a 6-5, 230-pound catcher, but also switch-hits for power, and can even pitch if necessary. Fans will no doubt be treated to quite a display when they check him out at Hans L'Orange Park on a daily basis.
His Hawaii experience will no doubt be memorable because it marks the first rung on his professional baseball ladder. When he mentioned to me that he was happy that he had signed a deal that included a $6 million signing bonus, he remarked that he was rewarded with a "fair market value."
If he is worth that record-setting bonus, then we are in store for quite a show.

I've read up on Bard, Harvey, and Snyder. It seems like they've got some pretty impressive raw talent. I'm glad the MLB organizations are sending such high-level talents to the league.
I've got a wish list and it looks a little like this:
Deolis Guerra
Jon Niese
Francisco Pena
Jose Coronado and/or Emmanuel Garcia
Ed Kunz
Nathan Vineyard
Any luck?

Thanks Lance, yeah I saw he appeared in one game, but according to the Braves site, has yet to bat. Hopefully he'll see some action soon

My bad.
Len Sakata's team won the CAL League, Mark Minicozzi hit one out.

KG-
I found an article from last week regarding a bus run in conjunction with the Japanese Travel Bureau to Hans.... do you know the frequeny of the trip and if it will pick up in Waikiki? It might be a nice option other than the city bus once in a while.
Also, is there anything within walking distance of Hans to kill a few hours between games (restaurant, library, strip club). Once or twice a week I will hang out for both games. I found it interesting that some organizations players/coaches will be assigned to different teams- I suppose I'll adopt whatever team has the SF Giants players assigned as my favorite team as CT is the AA location for the team.
Also, glad to see Lindsay is coming back, I thought he was especially nice to the fans.
Santos was a teammate of Choy Foo this past year. He looks more like a skateboarder, but he is a heck of a pitcher. He was in CT for the AA all star game which was fogged out. Great numbers this year for the kid.
Will the games be rebroadcast afterward on TV like last year?
Sorry about all the questions, but I'll be there in about five weeks and I can't wait!!!

Thanks for the bus info, Rob. As far as the tour buses, I believe those are for the riders of the tour package only, but if you find out where they are picking up, maybe you could do a deal with the driver? As far as what to do around Hans, there are a bunch of restaurants to grab food at, as well as a HUGE shopping center and outlet mall 5 minutes away via bus. Hopefully that helps,
Kyle

Yes, St. Louis has a few guys...the rosters are up under the individual team headers, I'm updating them daily as changes are made, but for the most part, they are final.
